iLuv Launches First Dedicated iPad Dock

iLuv, one of the biggest accessory makers for Apple products, announced on Monday the first fully dedicated docking system for the iPad, as well as support the iPhone and iPod lines.

The iLuv iMM747 docking system features a built-in subwoofer, and uses jAura soundcell speakers. The iPad connects to the dock through the 30-pin connector, and the dock automatically adjusts to support the size of the device, whether it’s an iPad, iPhone or iPod. That means that even when the larger iPad is connected, it won’t damage the connector, and any iOS device can be used with the iMM747.

The iMM747 is also designed to quickly charge the iPad, which is a welcome change from the many hours frequently required to charge the device, even through a wall outlet. There’s also an auxiliary input for music from other devices, and a sync cable for connecting the devices to your computer when docked.

The iMM747 will be available in early October $149.99.

aigo MID

While commenting on the e-reader/e-book market and the company’s intention to enter it in the next 2 years, the CEO of Chinese MID manufacturer Aigo also mentioned its intention to launch a MID tablet later this year. Using the provisional brand name of “AigoPad,” he also said the tablet would likely use Android as its operating system but didn’t disclose any more information beyond that.

As one of the main Chinese manufacturers specializing in MIDs, and e-readers and tablets being the hot products this year, this news doesn’t come as a complete surprise. But it should be interesting to see what Aigo comes up with keeping in mind its good track record of delivering interesting good products such as the recently featured N500 Maemo MID. The question is whether the “AigoPad” will be a smaller MID in-line with devices such as the Archos 5 Android or a larger device to compete with the upcoming generation of larger tablets like the Apple iPad.
